One of the challenges of managing an office or building is maximizing the interior spaces. Gone are the days when blank windows were seen as helping to improve productivity by just bringing in natural light. Now, employees and business owners want to utilize these blank spaces as much as possible.

Here are four unique window decor ideas that can transform any office or business immediately.

1. Frosted Glass Windows and Partitions

Many modern offices use windows to allow natural light to move through the space. However, regular glass windows can be boring, and glass doors or partitions can even be dangerous if they're not immediately noticeable.

One way to solve this problem is to add decorative window films to the glass. For example, frosted glass works well to add privacy, but who says it has to be squared or rectangular? Instead, you can design specific images or graphics to make the glass look more visually appealing. And you’re not limited to just white frosted glass for a color. With LINTEC optically clear films, you can print an array of your own custom privacy films and patterns, and you can add in colors and textures to your window film designs.

Another advantage of modern decorative window film is that it can block UV light and be made of recycled materials. This distinction is crucial if you're designing a sustainable or LEED-certified building or office.

2. Printed Textured Patterns

Flat windows are boring and predictable, especially when they're painted one solid color. One way to break up the monotony is to use textures and textile imagery. This way the window becomes a more energetic surface, all without having to determine a unique design or graphic to cover it.

Best of all, it's relatively easy to print these patterns and apply them to the window. For example, you can print sections of a brick facade that stick to the window, or you can make it look like it's made of canvas, masonry, or use textile window material. For the best results, we highly recommend using different colors to make the window look more layered and realistic. Since LINTEC’s films are optically clear, if printed and installed correctly, the design is going to look like it’s been painted directly onto the glass. That, plus with LINTEC films, you can swap out a whole image for something different as you’d like because of the easy removal (and installation).

3. Layered Imagery or Decor

So far, we've only been looking at "flat" window decor ideas. Even when using a textured surface like textiles or brick, the result can still feel somewhat two-dimensional.

One way to add depth to a flat window is to create a layered effect. Sometimes, physical decorations and materials are needed to give the window a more tactile and three-dimensional feel. However, you can also use vinyl imagery to create a layered effect. For example, a mountain range with dark-colored mountains in front and lighter-colored mountains behind gives the illusion of fog blurring the image as it recedes into the horizon.

4. Product Showcase

If your company sells products, you can decorate a large window decor to showcase those products, both for customers and employees. If you want to get creative, you can use products to create a mosaic image effect. Or, you can play with colors and arrange products by color, so there's a gradient from one side to the next. Alternatively, if there are multiple versions of the same product, the showcase can show its evolution from start to finish – or even a “walk-through” of the history of the product or company.
